Isla Vista- Recreation and Park District General Manager

Isla Vista is an unincorporated community located in Santa Barbara County nine miles west of the City of Santa Barbara on a coastal bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.  Located in a unique pocket of land bordered by the University of California, the beach, and wild wetlands, the predominantly urban community is comprised of multi-residential housing, a small commercial downtown, a neighborhood of single family homes and numerous public parks.

With 20,000 residents, Isla Vista is notable for its unique student and beach culture. The Isla Vista Recreation and Park District covers approximately one square mile of rich land containing 25 parks.  The General Manager is one of 11 full-time District positions and responsible for the day-to-day operations of the District. The current budget of $2.8 million includes funding for a variety of master planning efforts as well as grant funding for a youth soccer field, new basketball courts and bridge improvements.  The new GM will play a critically important role in driving these projects to completion.
